Sources & Evidence

Every claim in the Tamanti Family History pages rests on a document. This archive keeps a copy of each one here on palazzotamanti.com, so the evidence stays readable even if an external website changes. Each item has an ID (for example E09), a citation to the archive that holds the original, and, where one exists, a link to the original online.

The civil records come from the Archivio di Stato and are reproduced from the Italian Ministry of Culture’s Portale Antenati. The cadastre pages come from the Archivio di Stato di Siena, Catasto Generale della Toscana, reproduced from the Regione Toscana CASTORE service. Published books are cited on each page but not reproduced.

Published sources

These books and articles are cited on individual pages. The most important is Lucia Carle, La patria locale. L’identità dei Montalcinesi dal XVI al XX secolo (Marsilio, 1996), whose Tamanti chapter (pp. 289–300) and family tree (p. 292) are the starting point for the genealogy. Where the civil records disagree with Carle, these pages follow the records and say so.
