No single document sets out the Tamanti family from beginning to end. What survives is a published genealogy, a run of parish baptisms, civil marriage and birth acts, and the cadastral ledgers that recorded who owned what. The tree below draws them together. It is the line followed through this storybook, not a claim about who inherited first or who owned the palazzo at each stage.
The backbone is Lucia Carle’s genealogy of the descendants of Cristofano of Buonconvento (Carle, La patria locale, 1996, p. 292). Where the original records confirm or correct it, the entry says so. Dates marked “c.” are worked out from ages given in census or civil records.
The core line, generation by generation
- Cristofano of Buonconvento, “Il Tempesta” (d. 1590). The earliest secure ancestor in Carle’s genealogy.
- Scipione Barnaba Tamanti (1574–1657)
- Children named in the Donnoli marriage records: Carlo, who married Lavinia Donnoli in 1629, and Fulvia, who married Girolamo Donnoli on 10 September 1639. A daughter, Christofana, left a legacy to pay for Masses.
- Carlo Giuseppe Tamanti (1629–1666)
- Dr Jacomo Cosimo Tamanti (1649–1710). He was probably the “Tamanti Dr.” who held five farms in 1692.
- Ermenegildo Gaetano Tamanti (b. 1704; baptism indexed at Sant’Egidio, 13 November 1704). His wife was Cristofana Feci.
- Giacomo Tamanti (c. 1741–1819). He never married. He was Filandro’s elder brother, not his son.
- Filandro Tamanti (b. 1755; baptism indexed 27 February 1755)
- Anna (b. c. 1791), who married Guido Orazio Ducci(?) in 1809
- Francesca Maria Giacoma, who married Mario Giuliani in 1811
- Barbara (b. c. 1801), daughter of Filandro and Teresa Capei, who married Luigi Benigni in 1820
- Ermenegildo Tamanti (b. c. 1804), who married Marianna (or Maria Rosa?) Tassinari
- Giacomo Tamanti (b. c. 1828), who married Clementina Bagni in 1848
- Dr Antonio Tamanti (1810–1854), son of Filandro and Teresa. He married Giuditta (probably Ruggerelli) in April 1847.
- Francesco Antonio Tamanti (b. 1852), who married Maria Giuliani (b. 1857) in 1873
- Giuseppe Tamanti (b. 1876), who married Agnese Calcagni. Their daughter Cecilia (b. 1917) married Alessandro Feliziani, and this is the Feliziani line, still at the palazzo.
- Giovanni Tamanti (1881–1916), who married Francesca Barluzzi. He was killed at Col di Lana and awarded the Silver Medal.
- Gianni (Giovanni) Tamanti (1909–1943), killed at Enfidaville and awarded the Gold Medal
- Giuliana Tamanti, who married Giovanni Colombini (1906–1976)
- Fidalma Tamanti (birth registered 1878), who married Paolo Mattei Gentili in 1901. The 1901 marriage calls her father Antonio, so her exact place here is still unconfirmed.
- Francesco Antonio Tamanti (b. 1852), who married Maria Giuliani (b. 1857) in 1873

The parallel branch of Dr Francesco
Carle’s chart also shows a second branch of the late eighteenth century. The Biondi-Santi story comes from this branch. Dr Francesco was probably another son of Ermenegildo Gaetano, and so Filandro’s younger brother. None of the sources used here states that outright, so he is shown separately.
- Dr Francesco Tamanti (b. 1757), who married Appollonia Bardi. He had died by June 1810.
- Maria Tamanti (b. c. 1799), who married Clemente Santi on 12 February 1819
- Paolina Santi (b. 13 December 1819)
- Caterina Santi, who married Jacopo Biondi in 1844. Their son Ferruccio (1848–1917) became known as Ferruccio Biondi Santi.
- Gaetano Tamanti (b. 1801). He owned the Chiusa farmhouse in 1820 and never married.
- Maria Tamanti (b. c. 1799), who married Clemente Santi on 12 February 1819

Reading the tree with care
Several links here are strong but not yet proven. Carle’s tree reverses the Santi and Biondi surnames in the Maria and Caterina marriages. It also names Dr Antonio’s wife as “Fidalma Muzzarelli”, although the April 1847 marriage return names her Giuditta. The connection between the Francesco Antonio of the military records and the one in the main line depends on name, date and birthplace, and has still to be checked against the civil registers. The later generations draw on the owner’s Ancestry family-tree file and on first-hand family accounts, so original acts are still needed as archival proof.
